8th Graders Shadow CEB High School Seniors

On Monday, March 08, 2010, Cheyenne Eagle Butte Junior High 8th graders came to the High School to shadow a senor for the morning. Everyone met at the auditorium at 8:10 to receive a welcome and instructions for the morning activities from high school Principal Mr. James Nelson. Mr. Nelson encouraged the jr. high students to ask questions and to enjoy their first hand experience at the high school. This activity is designed to provide the students a chance to view the high school and feel more comfortable when they transition to the high school as a freshman.

The junior high students were pared up with a senior. The senior would greet them and act as a host while the soon-to-be freshman would shadow them during their morning classes. The seniors escorted the students to A1 to pick up their class schedule as they would on the first day of classes at the high school. Seniors pointed out the various classrooms, visited the library, office, locker area and other points of interest.

This was a positive experience for all the students.  For the seniors it was the opportunity to provide incoming students the personal orientation to high school. In addition the 8th graders were made to feel comfortable as they get ready to embark on their upcoming high school years.
